Core concepts, in plain terms
Kefilex is built around five ideas. Learn these and the rest of the product reads itself.
Leads
A lead is a prospective client before there is a matter — a caller, a web form, an email, a referral. Most firms cannot say how many they get, where they came from, or what became of them, because leads arrive across a phone system, an inbox and a referral relationship that never share a number. Kefilex captures every lead in one place and keeps count.
Crucially, it also filters out the things that look like leads but are not — the Land Registry, the courts, recruiters, suppliers — so your conversion figures are about real prospects, not noise.
Chases
A chase is a lead that needs following up and hasn't been. Left to memory, chases are where good matters quietly die — someone meant to call back, someone assumed a colleague had. Kefilex watches for a lead going quiet and surfaces it as a chase, routed to the right person, so following up is a task on a list rather than a thing someone was supposed to remember.
Matters
A matter is a live piece of work — and matters are Clio's job. Kefilex does not replace them. When a lead is ready, it becomes a matter in Clio, and from then on Clio manages it. What Kefilex adds is the line into the matter (which lead it came from, what it cost to win) and the line out of it (what it is worth, what is owed) — the parts Clio alone does not connect.
The journey
The journey is the single timeline of everything that has happened with one person or one matter — the first call, the form, the chases, the messages, the milestones — in one place, in order. It is what lets anyone in the firm pick up where someone else left off, and what lets a returning client be recognised as one instead of greeted as a stranger.
Attribution
Attribution is knowing which marketing actually brought a client in. Most firms can tie a source to only a small fraction of their enquiries, so most of their marketing spend cannot be judged. Kefilex records the source on the way in — the ad, the referrer, the campaign — so cost-per-lead and cost-per-client are measured against real outcomes, not guessed.
