About

Built because we got tired of leads disappearing.

Kefilex started inside Judge Law — a UK firm with the same visibility problem the product now solves. This page is the honest version of how it came about.

Why this exists.

We'd been running marketing for Judge Law — Google Ads, organic SEO, Meta campaigns — and the leads were coming through. We could see them. Real prospects, real intent, real numbers in the dashboards.

Then we'd report back to Sim, the managing partner, with some pride in the work. And he'd say: we only got one call.

That gap — between the leads we could prove existed and the calls the firm actually noticed — was the whole problem. Once a lead crossed into the firm's side of the operation (a missed call, a contact form lost in an inbox, a referral that never got followed up), it disappeared. We couldn't prove the marketing was working because we couldn't see what happened after the click.

We tried to close the gap with the tools to hand. Started with Zapier on top of HubSpot — too limited. HubSpot itself wouldn't let us automate the way we needed without paying for tiers we didn't want, and even those tiers were awkward to bend into shape. Switched to n8n and finally got the flexibility we needed.

That n8n setup is still running at Judge Law. It's the proof of concept, and it works. Building it taught us the actual shape of the problem — and showed us a cleaner way to solve it. That cleaner way is Kefilex.

A business — any business — only works if you can track the money. Leads cost money. They're an investment. Leaving that investment unchecked is a strange thing to do, and most law firms do it because no one's built the tool that lets them stop.

Tenant zero is the firm building it.

Most legal SaaS launches with zero customers. Kefilex launches with one — Judge Law itself, which has been running on the product through every phase of its build. Every feature ships only after it's replaced something that was actually painful at a real firm doing real work.

The build sequence is deliberate. Pick an existing manual or n8n-glued workflow at Judge Law. Build the SaaS feature that replaces it. Point traffic at the new feature. Verify numbers match for a fortnight. Archive the workflow. Move to the next.

By the time customer #2 onboards, Judge Law has been running on Kefilex for months. The strongest possible reference: the firm building the tool uses it.

What Kefilex believes about legal SaaS.

Don't replace what works. Clio is a good practice management system. Most firms don't need a different one. They need a layer on top that answers the questions Clio doesn't.

Don't fake it with demos. A 30-minute slide deck and a sales call tells you nothing about whether a tool will fit your firm. Kefilex offers a 48-hour trial with realistic data — make up your own mind in the product, not in a meeting.

Don't store what you don't need. Legal data minimisation isn't just compliance hygiene; it shrinks the blast radius of every inevitable security incident. Kefilex's ledger is metadata-only — we record that an email arrived; we never store its content.

Don't pretend AI is the answer to everything. The rules engine catches stalled leads because rules are explicit, auditable, and don't hallucinate. There's no "AI inside" sticker on Kefilex. There's thirteen rules, a clean integration, and a dashboard that tells you the truth.

Who's building this.

Kefilex is built by Kefilab. Background in tech and operations across multiple businesses over the years. Kefilab was set up to do the digital groundwork a business needs to grow — branding, content, technical SEO, marketing, the things that move a firm from invisible to visible.

We did that work for Judge Law. The campaigns ran, the leads arrived. Then we hit the visibility wall described above and realised the operations side of the lead journey needed the same attention as the acquisition side. Kefilex is what came out of that — the tool that picks up where the marketing leaves off.

The result: Kefilab now offers an end-to-end picture for a UK law firm. Brand, website, content, SEO, marketing — and now, with Kefilex, the visibility and control over what happens to leads once they arrive. The two halves of the job, in one place.
